I've been on the Internet pretty much from day one, and have had an active Web site—bythom.com—for well over a decade now. As part of making sense of my sprawling Web presence, I’ve now launched this second site, dedicated to the so-called mirrorless cameras. These smaller, yet sophisticated cameras have come to supplement the larger DSLRs I've been primarily writing about for many years. One of the things that was happening on my old site was that it was trying to do too much in one place. That was also holding back a significant site-redevelopment project, too, as the constant adding of more compact and mirrorless camera information to an already huge site was resulting in more things needing to be done on a new site design faster than I could deal with them.
No longer. Sansmirror was my announcement that I split the byThom Web site into more manageable chunks. In the case of this particular site, specifically those cameras with no good name. Call them mirrorless, call them SILC (small interchangeable lens camera), call them EVIL (electronic viewfinder interchangeable lens), call them...well, you get the idea: they don't yet have a great name that's standardized in everyone's minds, even five years after appearing. Even the camera makers don't seem to be in agreement.
You’ll find that I moved some of my previous items off bythom.com and onto this site, as appropriate, plus I’ve added some even more info about mirrorless cameras than was already on the previous site. As before, I use a tab-based menu system to help you navigate all the content. You'll find that menu system in the gray bar under the banner photo.
Other things you should take note of are the integrated RSS and social media support. I'm still experimenting with those things, so bear with me as the sidebar content gets shuffled a bit as the site settles into a rhythm of its own. As with my other sites, I don't currently accept advertising, though I'm considering possibly adding some. Right now the site is supported through your use of Affiliate Links (see this explanation for the full details). You'll find some in the side bar at the right. Let me thank you in advance for your continued use of these links.
I hope you enjoy this site, and let me know how I’m doing from time to time.
