ML-L3 Wireless Remote

This small infrared release is what you use to trigger the shutter when you don't want to press the shutter release on the camera. It has about a 15 foot range. On the J1 the receiver that responds to this remote is on the front. On the V1, there are receivers on both the front and back of the camera.

Thom's Mini Review: It works fine as long as you have good line of sight back to the receiver on the camera and haven't wandered too far away from the camera. It's small so easy enough to keep in your pocket, though I wish Nikon had put a hole in it so you could just leave it attached to something like a keychain or carabiner. You can get cheaper imitations of this remote from third parties, but I keep coming back to the Nikon one: it fits the hand nicely and looks good. Comes with a small case to carry it in. Recommended
